3. SUMMARY INFORMATION CONCERNING THE FESTIVAL

The International Dance Festival in Ústí nad Labem is the biggest, oldest and most famous dance event in the Czech Republic with a tradition of 30 years featuring competitions in various dance categories. Over 500 participants regularly take part in this festival held annually in November. In addition, the final rounds are broadcast by all major national TV stations.

‘For years now I have observed the development of dance as a sport in this country with great interest and I have made many friends from many lands. Today I am very happy about the permanent continuation of this traditional event in Ústí nad Labem despite the sometimes difficult conditions. I extend my thanks and praise to the organizers of this 25th anniversary festival. The Central European Standard Championship, held here in the heart of Europe, may be an important signal for future success in the development of "friendship through dance"’.

‘I admire the Albis Culture Centre in Ústí nad Labem to organize this anniversary event for the 27th time. This Festival has a proud tradition and takes an important place of dance sport in this part of Europe. The IDSF Presidium did not hesitate to grant the Central European Championships to Ústí nad Labem once more again as we are convinced of a perfect organization which was experienced in 1994 (Central European Standard Championship) and 1995 (Central European Latin Championship).’
