Conductor: Vladimír Kuželka
The
choir was established in the autumn of 1990 and formed from the
women´s section of a mixed choir. They began to perform
individually after a great success at the International Music
Festival in Spanish Cantonigros where they won the first prize in
the women´s choir category. Their repertoire is focused on
Renaissance and Romantic compositions as well as on works of contemporary
composers and folk arrangements. At present the group is
functioning as a chamber ensemble.
They have already been presented at a number of separate and
joint concerts in many Bohemian cities like Ústí nad Labem, Teplice, Hradec Králové, Pardubice, Třebechovice
pod Orebem, Duchcov, etc. The choir has also taken part in
various international choral competitions and festivals such as
Cantonigros in 1990 (1st prize) and 1992 (two 3rd prizes),
Oskarshamn in Sweden in 1993 (2nd prize), Chorus Camera in Hradec
Králové in 1992 (2nd prize) and 1993 (3rd prize), Prague Days
of Choral Singing in 1994 (gold rating), and International
festival in Pardubice (1994 - 3rd prize). It has recently
established contact with the ‘Relations Francaises - Tcheques
et Slovaques’ which invited the choir to take part in guest
performances in the society’s hometown, Strasburg, and in
Rosheim.
Since its establishment it has been conducted by Dr. Vladimír
Kuželka, an assistant lecturer at the Music
Education Department of the Pedagogical
Faculty of Jan Evangelista
Purkyně University in Ústí nad
Labem. The Choir’s latest achievement is the great honour of
the ‘Grand Premier Prix’ of the international music festival
in Luxembourg.
