Ústí
Children’s Choir
Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic
Conductors: Anna and Vlastimil Kobrle
The Ústí Children’s
Choir has been functioning in the city of Ústí nad Labem since its establishment in 1966, and currently is
supported by the Albis
Culture Centre. From the very
beginning, the ensemble has been led by the husband and wife team
of Dr.
Anna and Prof.Dr. Vlastimil Kobrle of the Music
Education Department of the Pedagogical
Faculty of Jan Evangelista
Purkynì University in Ústí nad Labem where
the choir regularly appears in concert. They have also performed
at a number of engagements, both in their home country and abroad
(Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Holland,
Hungary, Israel, Italy, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, United States, etc...).
Their rich repertoire focuses mainly on contemporary Czech
compositions. This is amply demonstrated by their concert
programmes and studio recordings (Prague, Ústí nad Labem,
Hilversum, Stuttgart, Vienna, Varna, etc...) which also include three
LP’s and one CD.
For a number of years, the group has collaborated with the
Municipal Theatre Opera of Ústí nad Labem, in several combined productions
like Jacobin, La Tosca, Bohemian Nativity Scene, Carmen,
Bystrouška Fox’s Occurrences, and, most recently, in Pavel Blatný’s
children opera ‘Fairy Tales from the Forest’. In June 1995, in
conjunction with the North Bohemian Philharmonic the choir presented
Czech composer George Sternwald’s scenic cycle ‘The Village
Year’. The singers have also repeatedly taken part in a number
of national and international competitions and festivals, in which
they have represented the art of Czech choral singing with both
honour and success...
